A bleg.. for landfill solutions

As regarding this landfill problem we are faced with- does anyone know where some good information can be found on the web regarding large scale incineration of trash? My impression is that, while more expensive short-term, the long term benefits of not soiling our nests, and not having to constantly re-locate as they fill, should offset. But I'd like to know more.

Actually, I'd like our council to know more, too. Wooden shoe?

Dude, You are dead on.

Incineration, more acurately Waste to Energy is, in my oh so humble opinion, THE ANSWER.

It's dificult to find unbiased information on the web. Most is either sponsored by a waste to energy business, or sponsored by an environmental group in oposition to incinerators based on old polluting technologies.

Today's waste to energy facilities produce very little air pollution(even less than landfills), and offset fossil fuel usage for creating heat or electricity.

I became totally sold on the idea when I asked an engineer at the EERC, "What's the best technology for Grand Forks to adopt regarding their waste disposal needs?" He responded, "right now the best solution would be to hire a company to build a turn-key predesigned waste to energy plant."

I suggest speaking to the EERC, and checking the following websites: http://www.barlowprojects.com/110000.asp , http://www.kulmnd.com/index.asp?Type=B_BASIC&SEC={A50DD8FF-5C99-47B6-9113-5032283E8C59} from Kulm, ND , http://www.energ.co.uk/waste_gasbus.asp the company tht runs the waste to energy plant in our sister city of Sarpsborg , www.pca.state.mn.us/news/eaw/owef-eaw.pdf a MN project, or just take a drive to Fisher,MN and tour the Polk County facility.
